This addition is being funded by the Arabian horse enthusiast organizations, which are specifically the Purebred Arabian Horse Trust & the American Arabian Horse Community.

The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington KY is to receive approximately $29 million to be used for improvements in preparation for the 2010 World Equestrian Games to be held there at the facility.  The money is being allocated by Governor Beshear as a grant to the KY Horse Park from the state park improvements fund.

But, this grant is coming with some resistance.  $15 million of the $29 million is coming from moneys that had been allocated tokentucky-horse-park-in-lexington-ky-to-receive-29-million_135 the Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park which is located in Senate President David Williams district.  Williams has voiced disagreement with the allocation stating that when the General Assembly in Kentucky approved $60 million for KY state park improvements in 2006 under Governor Fletcher’s administration, that it did

alltech-fei-world-equestrian-games-selects-official-shipping-agent_239The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games has selected the official shipping agent for the event:  Peden Bloodstock.  This company will be responsible for the shipping & caring of the approximately 800 horses that are expected to be in attendance for the event.  They will also be responsible for the attendants, equipment, and carriages to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington KY.  Obviously, since they will be bringing in horses from all over the world to Kentucky, they will have to manage and deal with the various quarantine and biosecurity aspects necessary for any importation of livestock into the United States.

Peden Bloodstock has an excellent track record.  They’ve been the official shipping agent for all of the World Equestrian Games (WEG) since the

Many Kentucky counties/cities are organizing committees to try and draw some of the persons attending the WEG, to spend some time (and money) in their area.

Just some of the Kentucky counties/cities that have organized committees are as follows:

Knight Foundation to help jump start those efforts.  For reference, the John S. & James L. Knight Foundation is named after the 2 brothers that purchased the Lexington Herald and Leader in 1973.

The primary focus will be for projects that will not only help the persons attending the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, but also will continue to be of benefit for the residents of Lexington Kentucky once the WEG has ended.

These types of projects are typically called “legacy projects”.  An example of 1 such legacy project would be when

rolex-to-sponsor-fei-world-equestrian-games-in-lexington-kentucky_258Its official (just had to throw that pun in there):  Rolex is now a sponsor of the FEI World Equestrian Games to be held in Lexington Kentucky in 2010.

Rolex has a long standing tradition of being a patron of the equestrian sports for many years.  The Rolex 3 Day Event held at the Kentucky Horse Park every year, is just one of the many horse events that they’ve helped promote.  They’ve been involved in equestrian sponsorship for 50 years - and they’ve been a sponsor for the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2002, and 2006 - and now, they will be a sponsor for the games in 2010. [The FEI World Equestrian Games is only held once every 4 years.]

It was not disclosed the amount of financial contribution that Rolex made to become a sponsor for the event, but

fei-world-equestrian-games-in-lexington-kentucky_193The results of the initial offering of reservations for tickets to the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington Kentucky are now in - approximately 67,000 tickets have been reserved giving approximately $3.2 million on its initial round of ticket sales.  Quite decent given that the event is some 3 years away.

The 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington Kentucky is expected to draw approximately 500,000 - 600,000 in ticket sales for the 16 day event.  It should be a real boom for the area, and provides a showcase for the Kentucky Horse Park where the event is being held.

The initial round of ticket reservations was held through the U.S. Equestrian Federation - and its members were allowed to reserve tickets during a 2 week window in November

2010-fei-world-equestrian-games-ticket-sales_166The first phase of ticket sales for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington Kentucky ended on November 15 2007.

The first phase was opened up early to members of the United States Equestrian Federation. The sales were a big hit with one exception: North Dakota. 49 states including the District of Columbia, US Virgin Islands, Bermuda, and Canada all had members reserving tickets for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games - but no one in North Dakota had made reservations.

Part of the reasoning may be attributed to the fact that North Dakota ranks 48th in the US for population with a little over 640,000 persons.

As of November 9, a total of 8911 reservations had been made totaling $2.4 million in deposits that
