Franklin County is home to Frankfort, which serves as the capitol for the state of Kentucky. The topography here varies tremendously. The bulk of the central portion of Franklin County is VERY hilly and steep especially along the Kentucky River. Most of the decent land that is suitable and appropriate for horse farms can be found in the southern portion of the County and along the county lines of Shelby, Anderson, and Woodford.
