Harrodsburg is located in Mercer County and serves as the county seat.  Harrodsburg is located north of Danville, south of Lawrenceburg, and southwest of Nicholasville.  One of the attractions for the area is the Old Fort Harrod State Park.  The park contains a replica of the 1776 era fort in which Daniel Boone once lived.  Also very close by is another attraction, Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is located approximately 7 miles northeast.  This village is America's largest restored Shaker community and is open to the public.  It features 3000 acres and offers overnight lodging.  The restaurant features some very good simple country fare that is definitely worth a visit. (Just make sure you make reservations as this attraction remains popular year round.)
