fei-world-equestrian-games-in-lexington-kentucky_193The results of the initial offering of reservations for tickets to the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington Kentucky are now in - approximately 67,000 tickets have been reserved giving approximately $3.2 million on its initial round of ticket sales.  Quite decent given that the event is some 3 years away.

The 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington Kentucky is expected to draw approximately 500,000 - 600,000 in ticket sales for the 16 day event.  It should be a real boom for the area, and provides a showcase for the Kentucky Horse Park where the event is being held.

The initial round of ticket reservations was held through the U.S. Equestrian Federation - and its members were allowed to reserve tickets during a 2 week window in November 2007.

Deposits were required for the reservations - and the amount of the deposit was equivalent to 50% of the face value of the ticket sale price.

There are 8 disciplines for which there are tickets available, which are as follows:

Dressage

Eventing (also known as Combined Training)

Jumping

Driving

Endurance

Reining

Vaulting

Para-equestrian

The ticket that had the most demand was Dressage - which had approximately 22,000 in ticket reservations.

The 2nd most in demand ticket was Jumping - which had approximately 20,000 in ticket reservations.

An interesting statistic was that over 90% of the ticket reservations came from outside of Kentucky.  This indicates a strong demand on a national level for this type of event - and also indicates that it should bring out of Kentucky dollars and help provide a windfall for the local Louisville to Lexington Kentucky economies.

If you missed out on the initial offering, don’t fret - if you are a member of another equestrian club/organization, they are going to be offering additional ticket reservations through some of those additional clubs/organizations.  The last persons that will have access to the ticket sales will be the general public.

And on the vendor side of things, there are currently 350 booths allocated for vendors, and 76 businesses have reserved 125 of the booths.  The average price for renting booth space is $15,000

The 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington Kentucky should be a spectacular event and will be one of the events that goes down as one of the best ever in North America.  You won’t want to miss it.  Keep an eye on your various equestrian memberships and check with them to see when/if they are going to be offering advanced ticket reservations.  It would be a good idea probably to go ahead and lock in tickets now - they should be in strong demand as the event draws closer.
